Due to lack of participation and site politics on TheO, I am no longer active on myotaku. I have turned off my site there and DO NOT CHECK IN there any longer. Blogger has replaced myO as my public blog. You don't have to join Blogger to read my posts or comment, that is why I chose it. So plz, don't be shy. If you read my posts there, leave an anonymous comment. Just get thru the spambot checker and sign the comment so I know who you are. Hit The Road Mac, and Dontcha Come Back

It’s official now, I hate Mac. Okay, okay, maybe hate</B> is a little harsh but based on my limited experience with their PCs, I’m never going to be a convert.  I don’t understand all the hype. It’s just different, not better.

I only had Minimac back from the Mac Hospital for a few days(it crashed and needed a new hard drive) when in utter frustration I trudged up to DH’s office and announced I wanted to return it. It never got beyond dial up speed even with an external router and signal booster. Safari was not supported fully or at all on most websites, and I got tired of all the clicking and dragging just to move files around and not knowing whether I shut down an app or not.  I kept having to use our Black Friday Special laptop to get/stay online and I just didn’t see the point in keeping the Mac. To their credit, Apple e-mailed us a pre-paid FedEx shipping label and is not only taking back the computer, but the wireless keyboard and MightyMouse too. Can’t fault their customer service. So, Minimac got shipped back to the factory today.*waves* Bye-bye.*sniff*sniff* I am again without a pc of my own. Just using a laptop to check msgs.

I was a little bummed, there were things about the Mac mini I really liked. The size for one, it was small and unobtrusive. I also liked having the built in RSS feature and I liked Safari—it just wasn’t supported much online(like here on dA for instance.) It came in really handy for Blogger however. If I subscribed to anything via RSS, a folder was created in my inbox and I was e-mailed any updates immediately. Didn’t have to remember to check the site or to bookmark it, etc. *sigh* Unfortunately that wasn’t enuff to make up for the disadvantages of the sl-o-o-o-o-o-o-w internet speed and lack of browser support. You just need IE7 sometimes and it’s not available for Mac users. I also lost a lot of  features on Yahoo Msgr. For Mac, it is a watered down Beta version.  They just don’t offer the product compatibility that Microsoft does. Like I said, I was disappointed. I had always heard Mac was the industry standard for digital art and publishing and had less problems than Microsoft. The latter is definitely not true.

And Adobe Was Nice Too

I thought we were screwed on the Mac only software we invested in but Adobe is actually willing to swap us out. *suh-weet* it will only cost of a few bucks shipping to get the Windows version of CS3 sent to us.  In return we promised to destroy the Mac install discs.  Of course I’m out the price of the Teach Yourself the Mac</I> books I bought. Oh well, more for the yard sale I guess.

Alienware

As soon as we get our money back, we are going to get the Aurora from Alienware. www.alienware.com/products/des…

It’s made for Gamers but should handle my digital art software just fine with little to no lag time. We won’t need to get anything else but the box itself, I already have a nice widescreen monitor, a Wacom digi-tablet, and good keyboard and mouse. It comes with built-in dual monitor capability which is ideal for web design and has plenty of ports in the front</I> for easy access. That was a major design flaw in the Mac mini IMHO. The power button and ports were in the back. It also only had four ports. The downside to this Alienware monster is the size of the box and its Xtreme design. It looks a little like Iron Man’s helmet and I will have to put it on the floor or it will take up all my desk space. I’ll probly get the silver chassis with purple lights to go with my Tinkerbell office décor.
^_~

I was wondering what happened to you. I just thought you were so incredibly busy doing all the artwork that I've not been able to pull out of my head.

Sorry to hear you're leaving theO/myO. Seems that's happening a lot lately. I'm still hanging in there, but have fallen victim to a schedule that isn't allowing me to do much anywhere lately.... Everything is suffering.

Hope you're having fun otherwise.
