Full color version of pen/ink original. This time I used photo reference. Acrylic and color pencils on watercolor board. Another old piece from the 90s.
Kung Fu Panda
Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting
We saw the animated film Kung Fu Panda</i> on Fri nite and it was great. The cinematography was excellent, the story was sweet and well written and the animation was superb. Add to that the voice talents of Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black(among others) and the great fight scenes and you got a winner. I highly recommend seeing this on the big screen. It ranks up there with Toy Story</i> and Babe</i>. It's also hilarious and you'll LYAO. I mean Jack Black as a Panda c'mon, ya gotta love it.
Also looking forward to seeing Wall-E</i>. I have old Art School classmates working for Pixar and it's fun to see their names in the credits. Why is it that good storytelling, character development, and likable characters only exist in kids movies? And nope, not embarrassed to go to a Disney or Pixar film at the theatre. I enjoy them, and I don't care what anyone thinks

Hit The Road Mac, and Dontcha Come Back
Its official now, I hate Mac. Okay, okay, maybe hate</B> is a little harsh but based on my limited experience with their PCs, Im never going to be a convert. I dont understand all the hype. Its just different, not better.
I only had Minimac back from t
My Fairy Realm Is Now CompleteFirst off I wanna say I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day. Shout Outs to Bowery Dweller and Whimsical Desire Happy Mother's Day ladies!
Sorry I've been gone so long... I've been very busy and preoccupied with the house. So many projects going on...once they are completed, I have a feeling I will start uploading a boatload of art, so be prepared for a deluge. LOL I'll try and catch up with deviations, I promise. I do look at ppl's works,it just seems whenever I'm on dA, they are in "read only" mode for maintenance. Grrr. Late at night is usually when I peruse galleries so It's very annoying.
We had the outside of the house painted a few weeks ago and it looks so much better. It is no longer a blah beige on beige. It now has curb appeal.
Still a-ways to go with the yard, but we'll get there. I know when it gets hot, we will spend most of our
Studio/Office UpdateWe got half the carpet pulled up in my studio on Mon nite. It was a lot of work. Had to move all the furniture over to one side, cut the carpet and pad, and then rip into pieces and put in garbage bags. Whoever installed it went a little nail and glue crazy. We will have to use a scraper and some Goof Off to get the remaining sticky stuff off the cement. Will also have to cut off the top of the nails that are sticking up around the periphery of the room. If we try and pull them up, they bring up big chunks of the floor. If we try and pound them down, the cement cracks.
The area of the house I am claiming as my studio and office is actually the formal living and dining room. Together, they form a large L shape off the front entry. To somewhat separate the two spaces and leave my studio open, I created a room divider with canvas carts. I can a
Delays and DisappointmentsI got my new Minimac and am learning my way around it some. Haven't had much time to play with it, still trying to get all my files transferred over and also load the software I already have that is Mac compatible. Luckily, Painter and Poser came with software for either platform. Macromedia Studio and CS2 were student versions so must remain on my Dell until I can replace with with the full versions. We did invest in CS3 for the Mac however. Between it and Painter, I'm sure I'll have a ball.
Unfortunately it's not looking so good for getting my studio sich resolved. To have the wall built and pocket doors installed is just not in the budget at this time. *sigh* I guess that means I will have to make do using my acrylics, WC or pastels if I wanna do any traditional art. Once upon a time I used water media exclusively but since taking fine art painting classes up in Seattle, have gotten used to thinking like an oil painter. LOL It will take a while to re adjust. You can get the results
I Have Been Assimilated LOL--Getting a new MacWe got an unexpected boon in the mail this week. A check from our mortgage company. Apparently they had withheld too much in escrow and it has been refunded to us. Nice surprise! Ive needed a new computer for a while now, Im using a 4 yr old Dell that still runs XP, and given that Im getting more serious about web design and digital art, weve been looking at Macs.
My dream machine would be the Mac Pro but if I wanna get my wall and my studio built now, there is no way I can have this computer for at least another year. In the meantime my pc is doing less and less and when I attempt to use CS2 or Painter X, it just cant handle it. I get a lot of msgs about encountering problems with Internet Explorer and must close now blump too. Grrrr. Yeah I need a new compie and I am SO sick of Windows.*shakes fist at Microsoft*
Given the new influx of money and the iffiness of my current pc, we decided to try and get me a new but intro level Mac. That way I can l
studio and more time for dAI thought I'd pop in here and update my journal. We've been busy getting estimates from contractors for some of our home improvement projects. I swear, no matter what it is, it is given an est of about 3k. LOL
So, looks like we found someone do put up the wall that will create our foyer and my studio. His crew will frame it, dry wall it, paint it and customize it so we have built in displays on the foyer side. SUH-WEET. Now our collectibles will have someplace other than a box to live. Can also get some pocket doors installed so I can totally close off my office and studio from the rest of the house. Still trying to figure out lighting and ventilation. In a pinch, I can open the windows, use a fan, and get a cross draft. LOL
I am going to make more of an effort to be active here at dA. I recently dropped one of my blogs. It was an anime fansite and had its run. I suspect that now only fanartists and newbies will participate there. *sad* I had made some good friends there
